Manu works for an Auditor firm. He was watching a new commerce student Jaishanker join for an article-ship. Manu always admired his calm and composure attitude.
There was an opportunity to go for a monthly audit to one of their clients’ offices. They used to discuss how to treat certain incomes and expenses under Income Tax rules.
Manu, “I was feeling bored doing audit because there is no innovativeness, as if I am dealing with dead accounts”
.Jai, “Why you call it dead accounts”
Manu, “It is more about the past. The accounts we checked and audited had already happened. Hence you can’t do any alteration in the mode to change the spending or mistakes. Hence they are dead, already happened. It’s past…Right”.
Jai, “Sometimes you need people to check the past in order to put the future correct…Right”.
Manu asked about Jai’s calm and compose attitude. He revealed he met an old man who helped him to put on the right track. Jai gave the details to Manu, “If he wants, he can meet him in the mountains at noon, possibly he may pass on those times. But cannot guarantee..
“Manu decided the next day, he went around the mountain and sat there to look for the old man.
Suddenly like a master appears once the student is ready. The old man was visible to Manu. Manu reached him and he explained who he is and he has hyper-tension,  he also feels the burden of knowledge. Whether he can renounce and avoid looking at the world through his perception..
The old man was listening to him and told him, “Try to come with me and I will take you to a mountain which is rich in nature, but on one condition you should not express your opinion coz opinion born out of knowledge. just listen and don’t comment. The moment you comment I will go separate. Before going I will tell you the way to reach back to the town”.
They went on discussing nature. Suddenly there was a huge tree and Manu couldn’t control his expression, “this was the tallest tree!” the Old man replied, “It is neither tall nor short and the time has come you to go separate coz of your thinking mind.”
Manu was disappointed and not convinced with the old man’s answer, and never bothered because the old man’s judgement is not his life. He was strictly told to follow the way to go back and the answer to his question may be revealed. He just sat in a nearby tree to watch the old man disappear from his vision. He started to follow his path with a heavy heart about his comment and he moved slowly.
Suddenly, he saw a tree that was even taller than the previous one. He just sat in place to understand the old man saying, “neither tall nor short”. A flash of ecstasy of wisdom and comparison of nature is.. absurd. The previous tall tree becomes short on subsequent trees. Hence there is no tall or short in nature.
He said to himself, ‘Wow’.
He was so happy to go back coz this is enough for him to detach with his opinion and he thanked Jai!”
