Hooked

How we are in this earth,
especially shopping

I went to buy a wrist watch for my cousin’s birthday. My budget is 2K in indian rupee. I told the sales executive that I wanted to buy a watch for less than 2k. They agreed and started to show me some lousy pieces. Then slowly, they started to show me some exclusives and telling me these are the best collection to be seen and they told me they will not pressure me to buy.
I agreed then some are very classic and they told me 6k. I just kept quiet and watched my behaviour of feeling small towards my budget. And I increased my budget from 2k to 4k and slowly they moved me into some more models which cost almost 9k. They really hooked me from 2k to 7k and am deciding to buy a 6k worth of watch but something was telling me someone was controlling me. Hence I decided to take a break after choosing a 6k watch and move onto the dress floor, then I went out without buying.

I just sat in front of the store having an ice-cream and chewing on my experiences. How I was hooked from my budget of 2k to 6k. Hence in order to check my control I better move to another shop less professional. This time I told them my budget is 1k and cannot afford more than that. The same trick they brought me the best collection ranging from 2k and the model of 2k which are very good. Hence I bought one and came out. The reality is you don’t know your budget, the society manipulates you and makes sure that they want to sell what they want, and no preference of us..

What is a hook?
You’re lured to come to their comfort zone and they exploit you and make you feel weak in terms of your skill and make you vulnerable. They stimulate your ambition to give rich gifts using marketing jargon. Actually when you do shopping you are weak that’s why when you take 5k for shopping you spend 90% of it or if you take 10k to shopping you’re finished with 9k of your money.

Simple, To escape from being hooked, transfer a required amount you want to spend to one bank account and take that card alone to shopping and am sure you never overspend…
