Lacan – Gaze

Gaze is always independent from the subject and the object.

First,
When a subject gazes at an object, it is not the subject that wants to gaze at the object, it is the reverse, the subject gazes at the object in order to be seen rather than to see..
In simple,
If a male goes to the party and gazes at any particular girl,
In reality, the moment he gazes at her, actually he not only admires her beauty but also wants that beauty to admire him.
The Truth is, ‘he initiates his gaze to be seen rather than to see’.

Second,
Every time, a subject looks again and again at the object, it is not the subject attracted to the object but the reverse, the object only initiating the subject to be seen often.

Gaze is independent but your desire behind the gaze determines what to be seen. Hence you have no control over the gaze because the desire behind the eyes will dictate what to be seen and not what it is…. Hence every capture of your eyes will not exhibit the true visual of the gaze, it is more like ‘the desire behind the gaze’.

Another instance,
Suppose, you could have gone to the party and there are a few girls standing in one corner, you are just gazing around, accidently you’re attracted to a female in the group. Why? Coz the girl in the group flashing a light into your eyes like a camera capturing your image. She initiates you to further gaze at her by freezing you.
This activity you can find in animals, when an animal fights with a predator they enlarge their image to arrest the enemy movement, it is more like flashing enormous amounts of light to the predator eyes capturing or arresting their movement by not getting eaten immediately and at the same time to survive…
